Amplifier Keying Buffer

This is the K4POZ Amplifier Keying Buffer

If you use a Amplifier you need to use a keying buffer between the Radio and Amplifier or run the risk of damaging the radio's keying circuit. Save the small keying relay in your radio. Read your radio manual carefully. Most will tell you to check the current required for switching an Amplifier. This Amplifier Keying buffer will protect your radio from damage by keying line transisents, high current and excesssive voltage.

The K4POZ Keying Buffer works with all amplifiers and all radios EXCEPT the ICOM 706. The IC706 Radio was not wired for external Amplifier keying and requires a special keying buffer and cable. The normal connection cables are very simple and cheap phono cables. You can get them from Radio Shack or other stores that carry audio components and accessories.

This Keying Buffer requires no external power. It uses an internal 9 VDC battery (long lasting Energizer included). The battery virtually lasts the shelf life of the battery with only 60 microamps of current when the amp is keyed. Battery life can be as long as 5 years.

The Keying buffer is 2" x 3 1/4" x 1 1/4" with RCA phono jacks for input and output connectors.
